Five potential Browns TE coach replacements

Writer: Niko PetrovicNiko Petrovic

With the promotion of Passing Game Specialist / Tight Ends Coach Tommy Rees to Offensive Coordinator, the Browns have a gap in the coaching staff which they need to fill; below are some guys I think the team should look at.

Nemo Washington | Browns Bill Willis Diversity Coaching Fellow

Washington has served on the Browns staff since 2023 as the Bill Willis Diversity Coaching Fellow. In 2023, Washington worked with former running backs coach Stump Mitchell to help bolster one of the better rushing attacks that season. Washington was tasked with coaching tight ends in 2024 with Tommy Rees and consultant Mike Vrabel. With the knowledge he gained this off-season this seems like a good move to me to help develop a young coach. He will coach the tight ends at the East-West Shrine Bowl this month.

Kevin Koger | Falcons Tight End's Coach

Currently the Atlanta Falcons Tight End's Coach, Koger would bring a wealth of experience to the Browns offensive coaching staff. Koger previously served as the Chargers Tight End's coach from 2021-2023. This season, Koger worked with Pro Bowl tight end Kyle Pitts in Atlanta and could have some familiarity if hired with a possible addition to the QB room next season (Kirk Cousins). He interviewed for the Browns vacant OC job a week ago. Would be a nice addition to the offensive staff!

Luke Stocker | Titans Asst. Tight End's Coach

A candidate to take over in Tennessee for Justin Outten (expired deal / not renewed) Stocker brings not only experience as a coach, but as a player too. A ten-year veteran Stocker played for Browns HC Kevin Stefanski in 2021, in Minnesota. Some familiarity between the two and it seems like Stocker has a long coach career ahead.

Will Lawing | Boston College Tight End's Coach

A long-time tight ends coach, Lawing has a plethora of needed experience at the position. Serving as the tight ends coach at Boston College currently, Lawing also served in the same position in New England and Houston. From 2021-2022, he served as an offensive analyst at the University of Alabama (one year prior to Tommy Rees) and could provide the current coaching staff with more experience from the college and pro games.

Brian Parini | Former Vikings Tight End's Coach

A four-time Superbowl champion coach, Parini last served for the Vikings from 2019-2021, in which he worked with Browns HC Kevin Stefanski. Parini has not coached since 2021, but it would not surprise me if Stefanski goes back to his old coaching friend from Minnesota. Parini was one of the longest tenured coaches during his time in the league and helped develop players like Shannon Sharpe, Owen Daniels, and Kyle Rudolph.
