The Browns head into the offseason after a disappointing 3-14 season. Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski have a lot of work to do to return to being a dominant force in the AFC North. Heading into Free Agency, the Browns options are limited due to cap constraints and available assets to move potentially. Some notable free agents include Nick Chubb, Jameis Winston, Maurice Hurst, and Elijah Moore.
The QB situation will be the most significant focus the Browns have heading into Free Agency, deciding what the plan is for the future. The consensus plan is to sign or trade for a veteran bridge QB and draft one to build around for the future. Some potential options if Cleveland decides to go the veteran free agent route are Jacoby Brissett, Joe Flacco, Justin Fields, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Other options include trying to trade for a veteran bridge, which includes Geno Smith, Kirk Cousins, and Aaron Rodgers. Figuring out the quarterback position will be a huge decision this offseason, but after a 14-loss season, there are many needs to fill.
Nick Chubb is 29 years old and entering free agency with a long history of injuries. Joel Bitonio is 33 years old and not getting any younger, and the search continues to find another guy on the opposite side of Myles Garrett. All these questions have to be asked this offseason, and they all will come short and be meaningful to Deshaun Watson's situation. Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson seems to know his time in Cleveland is ending as he recovers from a torn Achilles for the second time in under 5 months. The Browns anticipate Watson to be sidelined for most of the 2025-2026 season, which would eventually end his tenure in Cleveland. No matter how free agency goes, this offseason's main priority is nailing their selections in the NFL Draft.
The Browns hold many valuable draft picks, such as #2, #33, and #67. The franchise desperately needs a quarterback, and options will be available at #2. Cam Ward and Sheduer Sanders remain the top 2 QBs in this year's draft and will absolutely be on the Brown's radar this April. Reports have mentioned the fit between Sheduer Sanders and his father, Deion Sanders, and the potential coming and playing for Cleveland. Browns will have many options this April, and another scenario is to trade down and acquire much-needed assets and draft capital. Currently, the Browns will have 12 draft picks in the Draft and will need to hit on most of them to get back on track. Andrew Berry has been limited to only two first-round selections during his time in Cleveland, but this #2 pick will be the biggest selection in his career. Many insiders say that Kevin Stefanski will have more say in this year's picks, which should benefit not only the team but getting the right players to fit the Browns' scheme and role.
No matter how this offseason goes, the expectation is to improve and build around who you select #2. Veterans like Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, and David Njoku aren't getting any younger. They want to be in Cleveland, and most importantly, they want to win. This offseason for the Browns should be one for the ages, and change is something the Browns need in a positive manner.
